Yes, there are legal casinos in Northern California. The state has an interesting history around the legal status of casinos, and to avoid confusion, we won’t be listing cardrooms in our list of casinos even though some cardrooms will use “casino” in their branding. Also, we won’t be including online casinos in California, as they are not legal.
Northern California casinos operate under licenses issued by the California Gambling Control Commission (CGCC). To maintain licensure, they must abide by standards for fair play and gaming integrity. All casinos throughout the state have a revenue-sharing model to help all such gambling operations thrive, while tax revenue from the casinos goes to the state’s General Fund.
